Dear Medical Service Society Members and Friends,
As you know, one of our goals at the Medical Service Society is to assist non-profit
organizations in San Diego. Therefore, I have put together a MSS team for the
San Diego Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Race for the Cure. You are all welcome
to join this team.
I have created a race team website for MSS. If you can participate, please go
to our race team website to sign up for our team event before October 21st,
by clicking here: http://www.active.com/donate/sdkomen/MSS
You can sign up as a MSS team member whether or not you are able to physically
be there to do the race. When you register for the MSS team, during the on line
registration process, you will be given an option to select whether you will
be there to participate in the run/walk. If you can't be there, you can select
the "Sleep in for the Cure" option. This "Sleep In" option
is a $30.00 registration fee, you get a long sleeve T-Shirt, and you can still
participate in the team activity of raising donations for the cause, even though
you can't physically be there.
If you can physically participate the registration is $25.00, you get a short
sleeve T-Shirt, and we can have a team photo taken at the event, which could
be later added to our MSS website. Anyone is welcome to join our MSS team to
help us raise donations for this cause. You can invite your family, friends,
doctors, co-workers etc., to sign up on our team website as a team member for
this event. Many of us work for corporations that offer matching grants for
donations that we make. Therefore we should be able to successfully raise money
for this event. I've attached more information about the event below, and I
will discuss this further at the upcoming Medical Service Society meeting on
Wednesday October 12th at 12:00pm @ Prego Restaurant on Frazee Road in the Mission
Valley area of San Diego.

Fees: Adult 5K Run/Walk - $25.00
Youth (12 & Under) - Kids for the Cure - $15.00
Senior (65 +) 5K Run/Walk - $20.00
Sleep in for the Cure® - $30.00
Active Duty Military Discount: $5 Active Duty discount is not available to dependents,
retired military, or DOD employees. This discount may not be used in conjunction
with any other discount or offer.
Team Registration: Corporate & Team Registration closes October 21 at midnight.
About The Cause:
The Susan G. Komen Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor
the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died of breast cancer at the age
of 36. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Race for the Cure is the largest series
of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world. At every Race event, breast cancer survivors
celebrate their survivorship by donning pink caps, buttons or T-Shirts.
